Swinging in Central Park: Seasons in Review

One day wondering through Central Park I stumbled upon swings. Swings! I LOVE them :)

Thus hatched a plan to swing on them in every season. Despite the fact that it took nearly two years to do so, I did it with the help of my friend Laura!

The first time was after a friendly Turkey Bowl football game with some friends from Church. I talked my friend Laura into joining me to go to a library on the other side of town afterwards, and since we were going past the park anyway, to pause for a swing.

It was awesome – while chilly, the park was beautiful. And the magical photo bombed selfie (above) – we couldn’t have planned that shot (and we tried multiple seasons thereafter…) Not only did we enjoy swinging, we also inspired others to join us. The swings had been empty when we arrived, but over the course of our adventure others, adults and children alike, joined in on the fun!

For our winter adventure, we met in Central Park just before I flew to Russia for the Olympics. Snow was falling and we were better prepared for the cold weather this time.

We got some crazy pictures in the darkness – even some where we look like ghosts!

Spring! A beautiful time to be in Central Park, and a great time to swing :)

There were large puddles under the swings, but it just added to the adventure! And made for some great pics:

It also lead to an unfortunate white pants situation for one of the teens that joined us on the swing that day…

We tried to recreate the selfie bomb pic from our fall swing trip, but it wasn’t quite as epic.

One big difference this time for us was that another friend met up with us, so we have pictures from a different perspective!

Summer: Birthday Swinging!

Two years in a row we went to swing at Central Park before Laura’s birthday dinner. This year I was able to stay at the park longer AND join in the dinner festivities.

Turns out, swinging on an empty stomach as an adult = not so fun. We did have fun swinging, but we had to take a break and enjoy the park bench for awhile before dinner too :)
