On 7/11 my friend Laura and I were hanging out and decided we should go get a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven.
One thing lead to another, and we also decided to walk across Highbridge - which had recently re-opened and which I had wanted to cross for years.
It didn't disappoint.
Before we even got to the bridge itself I had a great experience - the Highbridge Community Center pool is HUGE and they also had an outdoor art exhibit which some really cool pieces:
The actual bridge was neat - from the Bronx side you get some pretty awesome views of the bridge and the tower on the Manhattan side, as well as of the George Washington Bridge on the other side of the island:
On the walk back over, I noticed there were plaques along the walkway talking about unique things about and the history of the bridge:
At the very end as we were about the enter back into Manhattan, the sun was so beautiful behind the tower:

I also spent some time trying to ge a photo of the American Flag unfurled - and sort of succeeded:
